“How We Started Okamoto Kitchen From Scratch and the Journey Along The Way”

Gerald Abraham is the charismatic co-owner of the anime-themed food truck Okamoto Kitchen! Join us as we learn how Chef Chizuru and Gerald utilized their love of Japanese food and anime in order to create a truck for the masses. Listen to all the ups and downs of the business from the point of view of someone who has lived it.

GoFundMe

Okamoto Kitchen recently had their generators fail and their portable generators stolen. They have a GoFundMe campaign to help recoup their losses.

The $6,000 cummins onan generator on our food truck broke this morning so we loaded up the portable generator and booked it to location in hopes of doing a little business. Within an hour of setting up, the portable generator was stolen in broad daylight outside the truck. Our crew tried to stop them but it was already too late. Unfortunately, something similar happened three months ago and this portable was the replacement for the last one.

About Okamoto Kitchen

Okamoto Kitchen is the brainchild of Chef Chizuru and Gerald Abraham, whose mission is to introduce people to authentic, lesser known Japanese dishes such as Chicken Nanban, Cheese Mochi and Classic Style Japanese Curry. The vibrant Akiba-style decor and engaging customer service make Okamoto Kitchen an experience you will be talking about with your friends.

About Gerald Abraham

Gerald Abraham’s immersion into Japanese culture started with anime and import video games (playing them in Japanese) as a kid. From there, he moved to Japan, became fluent in the language, and developed a true appreciation for the local cuisine as an avid foodie. Now he and Chizuru are bringing those classic Japanese dishes to Los Angeles.
